Safety
Safety is a paramount concern when providing technologies that deal with radioactive waste tank storage. The technologies employed in characterization, retrieval, pretreatment, immobilization, and closure must keep workers, members of the public, and the environment safe. Innovative technologies are being developed and implemented to resolve existing safety issues before activities are undertaken in any of the other technology areas. Safety also involves facility improvements to decrease exposure risks, and ensuring safe operations related to waste storage, including tank integrity and inspection techniques.
